(x+5)² = -4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

must be complex ;)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It certainly looks complex.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I ment to help solve it. ~ Sorry if you thought I was asking what kind of problem this was called. XD

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Take the sqrt of both sides...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

taking the sqrt of both sides we get... x+5= 2i x+5= -2i see if you can take it from there :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I prefer just: \[x+5 =\pm 2i\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

But either way.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

takes too long using the editor :P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x=-5 +- 2 i where i = sqrt(-1)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Who uses the editor?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I always just type the LaTeX directly.. *[5 \pm 2i*] replace * with \
