Which is the equation of a line parallel to the line with equation y = 3x - 4? Answer x - 3y = 1 3x + y = 7 x + 3y = 4 3x - y = -2

OpenStudy (lalaly):

parallel means it has the same slope rearrange them make y subject the last one is the answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay so our of those answers... we have y = 1/3x -1/3 - wrong slope

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3x + y = 7 --> y = -3x + 7 ... wrong slope

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x + 3y = 4 --> y = -1/3x + 4/3 .. nope

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3x - y = -2 --> y = 3x + 2... same slope

OpenStudy (anonymous):

cause the coefficient with the x ... are the same.. the yintercept doesnt matter in parallels and perpendicular
