install from live cd/bootable  if u trying  to install  inside windows xp/7 it get problem use dual or  only ubantu as a os

why dont you do a search at ubuntuforums.org theyre great there.  chances are someone else had your problem and if not they'll help ya

try ubuntu 10.04 ...it  is stable and looks pretty good .......also it has less issues
