Lets calculate John expenses, letting x be the number of days. He spends $12 + $15 = $27 a day, which makes for a total of 27 times x, or 27x. Looking at Pam, she spends $6 + $8 = $14 a day, which makes for a totaly of 14x. To get the difference, we subtract: 27x-14x = 13x
