Hey, I don't know if anyone here can help me. I live with my parents and my sister, and my mom and sister both have mac books. I have an IBM laptop. For a while now my laptop has been randomly disconnecting from my wifi. I noticed it didn't happen while my mom and sister were on vacation, but when they came back it started happening again, so I've narrowed it down to when one of the mac books connects to the router. Is there anything I can do to keep from being kicked off?
Disable the wireless on their macs. Or. Take a hammer to their macs.
does your router use DHCP or do you have IP addresses for the thre comps?
I'm pretty sure DHCP. (I know I probably have no idea what I'm talking about) I believe the setting has the computers assign themselves an IP address. Is there some way I can find that out, and what could I do with those settings to fix it.
what windows are you using? anyway why don't you go into your command prompt and do a ipconfig /all and post it here. also next tijme it happens do a ipconfig /renew see if that helps
Change it from automatic to a static Assigned IP addresses.
If all else fails, it may be a case of Repetitive Electrical Impulse Noise or REIN as it's more commonly known. Basically, it's electrical interference from something nearby to the router, could be anything from a printer to the streetlight outside. http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/rein.htm
