a line perpendicular to the graph of 3x + y=5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

get y by itself... y = -3x +5 now a line that is perpendicular is the negative reciprocal of the slope in that equation.. so the neg. recip. of -3 is 1/3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y= (1/3)x +5 is one of the infinitely many equations that are possible so ... y = (1/3)x + k where k is any real number
