What is the y-coordinate of the vertex of y = |–3x + 6| – 2 ?

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

u mean y intercpt right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The fact that the - rotates it and the 3 stretches it, it is only shifted 6 to the LEFT and 2 DOWN. So the coord is (-6,-2). So the y coordinate is -2.

myininaya (myininaya):

y=|-3(x-2)|-2=|-3|*|x-2|-2=3|x-2|-2

myininaya (myininaya):

but we didn't have to really do all of that since we were just looking for y part

OpenStudy (anonymous):

"The fact that...is irrelevant, it is only..." Good point myiniaya. Its (2,-2) lol.
