Democratic Republic

A presidentialist republic, where you have the president - head of state AND government, the senate and the congress. The other republican models adopted until this date had a parliament (council, chamber, etc.), a prime-minister - head of government - and a president -head of state, like Russia. The presidentialist republic was first implemented in the USA and today is used in other countries, such as Brazil. The parliamentary republic system is much more spread. --- I'm not sure if you can say it was a federal republic back in 1776, some people wanted a more centralized government and other wanted a decentralized government, this led to civil war.
