studying for the ged but cant understand the basic math
Like name topics or questions you have. Best is to keep practicing problems!
mostly word problems like this..
A rectangular display case houses a square pyramid. Both have the same square base measuring x inches on a side. The top of the case is 2 inches above the tip of the pyramid which has a height of h inches. Which expression represents the volume of the empty space inside the case? Answer: a. x^3 - x^2(h-2) b. x^2-1/3x^2h c. 1/3x2^h d. 2/3x^2h e. x^2(h+2) - 1/3x^2h
Understand how those equations work and what variables they deal with. Do a lot of problems.
i dont even no were to begin...
the volume of any cone/pointy object is calculated as (1/3) base area times height
in other words; volume of square display case - volume of pyramid = empty space
There are some introductory math course here: http://openlearn.open.ac.uk/course/category.php?id=8&perpage=15&page=0
if i were a gambling man, id say e is fits the problem
x.x.(h+2) = total volume of case x.x.h/3 = volume of pyramid
