how do you find the intersection of two sets of numbers?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The intersection of two sets is the set of all elements that are in BOTH sets.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so , this is the sets, {1,3,5,9} & {5,6,11} would it be 5?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The intersection of two sets are the elements which are common to both sets. If I give you A=1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 and B=2,10,25 then the intersection of A and B would be 2 as this is the only element which occurs in both A and B.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what if theres no common element?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yep

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If there is no common elements, then the intersection is the empty set. {1,2,5} INTERSECT {3,9,55} = {}
