A few points and corrections for letsreinventlove's answer:

First off, it's really called ceftriaXone, not ceftriaZone. It is abbreviated CTX.

In general, CTX covers Gram-positive and -negative bacteria. HOWEVER, it does not cover all bugs within those categories. Notably, CTX doesn't have great activity against the Streptococcal and Staphylococcal species.

CTX's "claim to fame" is its coverage of N. gonorrhoea. It also covers B. fragilis.

CTX is actually not used very commonly for pneumonia. It can't be taken orally, so it's only used in hospital settings, and there are more effective options available. Some important indications are gonorrhea, streptococcal endocarditis, and empiric treatment of bacterial meningitis.

The most important adverse effects are liver failure (enzymes are monitored) and C. difficile-associated diarrhea. Also, the injection can be painful.
