Can any one help with this and maybe teach the steps? : Determine if the following equation is a function: y = 5 Determine if the following equation is a function: x=2
function not a function
No help :(
saifooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
first one yes, second one no
SATELLLLITE!!! i was just about about to type that.
LOL>
xD
So y=5 will be a horizontal line and x=2 will be a vertical line. In order for an equation to be a function, it needs to pass the vertical line test, which is something like you can draw a straight vertical line anywhere on the graph and the graph will not touch the one vertical line two or more times. y=5 is a function because you can draw a vertical line through the graph and it will not touch any point on the vertical more than once. x=2 is not a function because it will touch the vertical line infinitely many times since they both are vertical lines.
