A field in algebra is a set along with addition and multiplication satisfying the following axioms: 1) Existence of additive and multiplicative identities 2) Existence of additive and multiplicative inverses 3) Associativity of addition and multiplication 4) Commutativity of addition and multiplication 5) Distributivity of multiplication over addition 6) Closure under the defined operations
