what is a rational/irrational number??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A rational number is any number that can be expressed as \(\displaystyle\frac{p}{q}\) where \(p, q \in \mathbb{Z}\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If the number cannot be expressed as previously mentioned it is irrational

A few other things, the closure of Q is the reals. To be more specific, Q together with its limit points make up R, those limit points for Q but not in Q are the irrational numbers.
