One of the easiest ways to visualize this is the unit circle in the x-y plane. One full rotation is 2pi. Sin (x) is the value of y at the point on the unit circle at x radians. For this example pi is in the direction of the negative x axis. This crosses the unit circle at the point (-1, 0) so the y value is 0. Thus sin(pi) =0
