Hi , i have a doubt regarding hydraulic machine design... this one s using oil pressure.. it is designed for moving a rod up and down. The setup is working fine for faster speeds,But wat s needed s faster speed for going up and very slower speeed fr downward motion. Can yu suggest me any means for this speed adjustment??

Do not power the reciprocating arm on the downwards stroke. constrict the flow to get the required downwards speed. It is difficult to get an idea or the system without a better description or schematic

use a electronic motor controller with time delay

To control the speed of the cylinder, install a meter out flow control on both ports of the cylinder. The flow control will control the flow rate of the fluid leaving the cylinder, thus controlling speed. the diasadvantage of a meter out system is the system pressure will be at maximum setting when the cylinder control is energized. Meter in system will not work because of the possibility of a run away load. Bleed off system is another flow control system, but should not be used for control of a run away load.
