OpenStudy (anonymous):

post some examples or i mean questions

OpenStudy (sasogeek):

\[\sqrt{x ^{2}}\]

OpenStudy (sasogeek):

note that x can be negative

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Scalar value, no direction. Say for instance you have -50 then the absolute value will be 50 units without any direction

OpenStudy (anonymous):

|r|=r if r>=0 and |r|=-r if r<0

OpenStudy (sasogeek):

eg. absolute value of -9 is \[\left| -9 \right|=\sqrt{(-9)^{2}}\]

OpenStudy (sasogeek):

\[(-9)^{2}=81\]

OpenStudy (sasogeek):

\[\sqrt{81}=9\]
