Example: you need to find the diameter from the circumference information given: The circumference of a circle is 15.7 centimeters. What is the diameter? Solution: C equals Pi times d 15.7 cm = 3.14 · d 15.7 cm ÷ 3.14 = d d = 15.7 cm ÷ 3.14 d = 5 cm So 1/2 the diameter is the radius so find the area is pi radius squared ie: pi x (r x r)
