How can we carry out an experiment to study the growth pattern of E.coli ?
grow it and watch the changes taking place man :D
there is a methodology adapted, its not that simple as you think !
Search the right culture and put E. coli to grown up, after use microscope to watch heheheheh.
I don't know anything about E.coli experiments but the best way to find out would be to search for journal articles that use e.coli and read their methods. Or perhaps find how another bacterium has been studied.
Maybe simple agar is just right. E. coli don't need much or specific nutrients.
it depends on what you would like to find out, for example antibiotic resistance, colony morphology, etc
Stain the E. coli with crystal violet, and measure the growth colorimetrically. Use known densities to to determine population. That is how you could determine the population more efficiently. But how you choose to manipulate the colonies is up to you.
Try growing the E. coli on different mediums, like TSA, McConkey agar, blood agar, ect. and see which grows best? Or you could see the effects different temperatures have on the growth. Antibiotic resistance is another interesting one, like blueberries12 said.
