OpenStudy (anonymous):

how do i find the sum or difference of (2a+3)+(5a+1)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2a + 5a +3+1 7a +4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

by "sum or difference" do u mean 2 different problems- one adding and one subtracting? Or just doing that stuff in general?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so yeah, combine like terms.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

subtracting it would be 2a+3-5a-1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-3a+2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

just that stuff in general

OpenStudy (anonymous):

K

OpenStudy (anonymous):

addition is easy- just get rid of the parenthesis.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hold on, my computer is spazzing

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4(v2-4v+9)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the 2 is suppose to be at the top of that v

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that's multiplying, not adding/subtract. What you do for that is multiply the 4 to each term. 4v^2 -16v+36

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok...16x2(squared)-2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the x is squared

OpenStudy (anonymous):

factor each polynomial 16x2-2 the x is squared
