last question! Determine the odds against the spinner landing on yellow. please show work andsee attachment

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (bme89):

There are 8 different places the arrow can land. 5 yellow, 2 red, 1 blue. So the odds that the arrow does not land on yellow (meaning the arrow landing on red or blue) would be (red + blue)/total. So the odds are 3/8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Odds are different than probability.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The probability that it does not land on yellow is 3/8. The odds are \[\large \frac{P}{1-P} = \frac{\ \frac{3}{8}\ }{\ \frac{5}{8}\ } = \frac{3}{5}\]

can u please explain not understanding!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so what would be my answer!
