After the first term in the sequence below, each odd-numbered term can be found by multiplying the preceeding term by 3 and each even-numbered term can be found by multiplying the privious term by 1/3. What is the value of the 24th term? 210, 70, ... A) 10 B) 20 C) 40 D) 70 E) 90

D) 70

why?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the third term is an odd term and is found by multiplying the previous term (70) by 3, 210. All even terms are equal to the previous term multiplied by 1/3 so the fourth term is 210*1/3= 70. The sequence repeats with odd terms being equal to 210 and even terms equaling 70. The 24th term is an even term and is therefore equal to 70.
