im trying to figure out how to find out what x = for x/6 =5/10 i know the answer is 3 but how do we come up with that please break it down to me in the easiest terms.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay, all we have to do is cross multiply

OpenStudy (anonymous):

like this: x 5 ----=------ 6 10

OpenStudy (anonymous):

now cross multiply

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you should get: (5)(6)=(10)(x)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

which simplifies to: 30=10x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

now divide both sides by 10

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and get: 3=x

aw ok thanks
