Can Someone Please explain how to do this problem Please.. :) Express the following in roster form: Set M is the set of natural numbers between twelve and nineteen

OpenStudy (amistre64):

roster form is like calling attendance

OpenStudy (amistre64):

M = {13,14,...,17,18}

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so how did u determine to put the ... for 15 and 16? any why did u put 12 and 19? just { then 13

OpenStudy (anonymous):

didnt u put {12,13 instead u put {13

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I have never heard of "roster form" Interesting...

OpenStudy (amistre64):

the numbers between 12 and 19 do not include 12 or 19 as far as i interpret it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

THe use of "..." is arbitrary. He could have also just listed them all out. The ellipses are used to say that it follows the same pattern. TO establish the pattern you need at least 2 elements.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

and i just used ... to indicate that it continues on in that fashion without actually typing it all out :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh ok... so it skips the first number and the very last and is { }

OpenStudy (amistre64):

as far as im interpreting it correctly yes; roster form is pretty much calling attendance by going thru the roll

OpenStudy (amistre64):

the between 12 and 19 part might be up for debate, but then they should have been more explicit

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I agree with your interpretation amistre. mathematically, "between" is an open-set. if they want to include the end points, they need to mention "inclusive"
