What is your awareness of the literature surrounding drugs and alcoholism. Is it a marginal area within Literature because Literature might be more focused on so called normal people and life situations?

The lost generation wrote about drugs and alcohol allll the time. The Sun Also Rises is about WWI vets drinking all the time. Less Than Zero is all about teen drug use. Alice in Wonderland is a direct product of a mind on drugs. I would say that most literature does not focus on "normal" people. No one wants to read about normal people doing normal things.
