OpenStudy (brittany):

Factor this polynomial completely. If it will not factor, type PRIME. x/62-12x-36

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

We must find two numbers that both multiply to -36 and add to -12; however, there are no two numbers that do this (well two rational numbers that is). So the polynomial x^2-12x-36 cannot be factored (over the rationals) So x^2-12x-36 is prime.
