no i am sorry i know literally nothing about pde's
really nothing at all. two big gaps i need to fill (well two out of many) are pde's and the mechanics of linear algebra. pde never seen and linear algebra theory is ok but i forget how to actually do anything

No one mentioned the difference between an expression and an equation.

An algebraic equation has an equal sign in it. No "=" in an expression.
