what are the application of matrix factorization?

In solving the equation Ax=b , where A is symmetric and large. You will need LU or LDLT factorization to reduce the complexity. And also SVD fact. is widely used in the signal process , QR is for getting the eigenvalues of a matrix. I hope it will help you a little on this.
