Part 1: Explain, in complete sentences, how you would use the elimination method to solve the following system of equations. Part 2: Provide the solution to the system 5x – 3y = 4 3x – 5y = –4

U need to get rid of one of the variables, in order to do this multiply (or divide) the equations so as to make the coefficients of one of the variables the same in both equations and subtract them to eliminate that variable. Solve the equation for the remaining variable. Substitute back for the other variable.
