how do you make a square root sign on the keyboard?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\sqrt{x}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how did u do that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you use the equation button...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh ok thanks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If u have a laptop with a numeric pad. hold down ALT and type 251, let go.. √

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Notice that this sqrt won't "cover" and expression.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Whereas it will if u use equation editor/LaTeX

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how about a fraction bar?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

U can type \over in the equation editor for a simple fraction

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[3 \over 2\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how did u do that>

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hit equation button type 3 \over 2 in the field..

OpenStudy (amistre64):

to use the keyboard you have to type in delimiters \,[ and \,] the type in the middle where the "and" is: \sqrt{arg} the easier way is just to go sqrt(arg): sqrt(36) = 6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay thanks
