The ratio of corresponding sides of similar plane figures is twenty-eight inches divided by seven inches. If the area of the smaller figure is fifteen square inches, what is the area of the larger figure? 36 sq ft. 60 sq ft 120 sq ft. 240 sq ft.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

240 sq ft.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yup

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The dimensions will divide out.

Has anyone noticed that the question gives sq in. and the answer sq ft?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I know...but it's bad to have them in the first place. That way the student doesn't get the idea that the ratio is different when using cm instead of in.
