You have a fraction (11/3) that is not in proper form.  The numerator (the top number) is larger than the denominator (bottom number).  Divide the top number by the bottom number, and any remainder is the last part of the fraction.  

3  11/3
3  +  3  2/3
6  2/3

For example, 11 divided by 3 is really 3 and you have two left over (3 x 3 = 9, not 11).  So you leave the number you have left over above the 3 in the fraction.  If it was 12/3, you could divide 12 equally by 3.  Except this is 11, not 12.  So it only goes in eleven three times with two left over.  Does that help?
