When finding the lowest common denominator, also known as the lcd, you find the lowest possible number that when multiplied by another number gives you that number. For 8 and 12 it's 24 because: 8*3 = 24 12*2 = 24 To be comfortable with doing these, you have to be comfortable with multiplication tables. Most everyone starts learning how to do these by creating charts of multiples of each number until they find a match. I'll show you below how that works: 8 | 8 16 24 12| 12 24 You stop once you get a match.
