Ok, how do I go about solving an equation that contains one radical expression?

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

where is it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

just general knowledge no example to go by

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Square Both Sides, that usually works.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I suppose I could make up an example...\[\sqrt{5x}=25\] one radical expression, how would I solve this... I don't need actual math work just an explanation.

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

take a square both sides.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Square both sides. 5x = 625 x = 125

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

this will cancel the sqrt on left side, and 25 will go 25^2
