ii Need help with complex number will anyone with a brain help me :{

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay, what is your question?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok ii really dnt understand any of it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Try http://www.purplemath.com/modules/complex.htm

OpenStudy (anonymous):

post and you will get many answers i am sure

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what abwt the absolute value of 9+2i

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ignore the "i" entirely and square no minus signs

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lost

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok good because i was wrong anyway it is \[|a+bi|=\sqrt{a^2+b^2}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so you have \[|9+2i|\] right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

STill LosT CoMpLeTeLY LoST...!*

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok what is \[9^2\]?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

iiTsx Jusx 9+2i ND iiT SaYsx FiiNd ThEe Absolute value

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes i know. that is what we are going to do. you need to square 9 then square 2 then add those numbers together then take the square root of the result

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[9^2=81\] \[2^2=4\] \[81+4=85\]so far so good?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

your answer is \[\sqrt{85}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

iiHave ThT So SiiMpLiiFiiED iiT WuLD B 5\[\sqrt{?}\]13

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no it is \[\sqrt{85}\], which is not 13 because \[13^2=169\] not 85

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no but ii have to simplify thee square root of 85 rite

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i would leave it like that. if you want a decimal you have to use a calculator

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no iijusx have 2 simplfied which i did because 13*5 give yhu 85 which 13 cnt b simplified so it wuld 5 timesx the squareroot of 13 iithink

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it is true that \[\sqrt{85}=\sqrt{5\times 13}\] but that is not the same as \[5\sqrt{13}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

iiWasx TrYiiN 2 Do ThT ThTsx Thee AnSwEr iiGoT BT Yhu PeRnOuNse iiT 5 TiiMesx ThEe Squareroot OF 13 jusx DnT KnW Hw 2 Do ThT Squareroot symbol

hw do yhu include thee squareroot symbol
