How does Photosystem 2 on the thylakoid membrane 'attract' the electrons in water?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The Photosystem II process is also known as the light-dependent reaction and is the first of the two photosystems that occur in the thylakoid. I'm not sure what your question is aiming at exactly, but to my best ability, I may reply to say that the energy from the light source (the sun) performs a catalysis reaction with water: 2 H2O --> 4H+ + 4e- + O2. This conversion evidently excites the electron and passes it through the thylakoid membrane. Hope that helped...? ! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Photosystem_II
