Which type of display would be best to show the number of basketball players in a league that scored within different point ranges during the last season? stem and leaf plot circle graph box and whisker plot histogram
stem and leaf
are you sure
Box and whisker plot would be the one i picked
histogram
does any one have an answer every one agrees with cuz i have no clue
Well I wouldn't use a Box and whisker graph since it only breaks up the data at the quartiles and it doesn't tell you how many data points are in each section then stem and leaf could work but it is a little restrictive in terms of how one defines the stems and leaves The Histogram gives the most flexibility. you can define your classes to have and width you desire and the height of the bars tells you the frequency (for a frequency histogram) which is what you want
"to have *any* width you desire"
if you label a stem and leaf plot correctly, it would be the most easy to read and it will also lend you the ability to see the range within which each player scored and the number of players that scored within that range
what if you had a lot of players in each group...then the stem and leaf will not really be feasible. and again you are restricted in class widths
if this was the NBA, it is possible to have over 400 players. I've never made a stem and leaf plot with over 400 entries.
