If you are reading about the rational and irrational numbers then I hope this would help, Rational number is represented as fraction. On performing the division operation the quotient obtained is a termination one. for e.g. 5/1 is rational since(5/1=5,terminated) likewise 4/2,5/2,9/4 are rational no.s whereas 10/3 is not because 10/3=3.333333.....(not terminating) Therefore,10/3 is not rational and it is irrational
