on each problem there are four numbers to work with each goal. you want to figure how to cALCulate the goal number using the numbers to work with. #'s to work with 4,5,5,6 goal 1: 8 goal 2: 101 goal3: 135

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

do you mean like 8 = 5+5 - sqrt(4)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You probably have to use all 4 numbers. not sure.

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

yeah could be 8 = (6*5) -(5*4) - sqrt(4)

OpenStudy (zarkon):

5+5-(6mod 4)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Also not sure if square root would be allowed, since it opens the doors for other roots or exponents of non-given numbers.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes but you have to use all for numbers like 5-5+6then the sqrt of 4 gives u 8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes roots are allowed watever give u the number

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Really? Well then I would just do this: 6*5*5*4^(\[\log_{600} 8\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If he can raise to (1/2) power, a non-given number, then surely I can use any exponent I desire also.

OpenStudy (zarkon):

can you combine numbers like 6 and 4 to make 64?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes anything goes as long as you use the four numbers but only once to get each of the three goals

OpenStudy (zarkon):

45+56=101

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes exactly like that Zarkon
