ok - i do know this - for example base 12 the single digits are 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 A because its base 12 it has to have 11 digits base 16 for example has 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 A B C D E 15 digits B in base 16 = 11 in base 10, E = 15 in base 10

well A comes before B in base 12 so B0A is just before B0B and B is the last digit in base 12 so next number is B10 - just like 10 comes after 9 in base 10

the position of the digits in a number system indicates the power to which the didit is raised eg 121 in base 12 means 1*12^2 + 2*12^1 + 12^0 8
