I need to write a 10 page story on anything I want. But I don't have any ideas.. Do any of you?
you can write about a book?
jessjess, what is the point of the paper?
Think about your last holidays and write about something that drove your attention then. That always worked for me.
Here's an idea: Take the thing that you feel strongest about and start there. 10 pages is a lot of space to fill for anyone so you want to have A LOT to talk about. So, take the thing that you're most passionate about, break it apart into its pieces, do some research on it and then write it section-by-section.
Write a Western story
Write a short story. You can make it about anything you want, which means you can elaborate enough to make it 10 pages long. It also gives you a chance to be creative.
I once had a similar assignment but instead of 10 pages it was 5 pages. I wrote about the challenges my character would face every morning as she readied her self for school. Challenges as simple as what kind of attire she should wear to complex ones like how she only lived with her mother and her alcoholic stepfather. So I guess my advice is just pick some real world problems and give them to your fictional character and walk us through his or her day. And remember to elaborate on every detail.
Dinosaurs.
Jhouser has a really good idea and some advice. I also had a similar assignment (not quite as long though) and what I did was a took one of my fondest most magical memories for my childhood and described it in great detail. Then I concluded the essay by comparing that memory to the birth of my daughter. It made my instructor cry and I got a 100% content and 98% mechanics because I had a couple of punctuation errors.
