A drunkard takes a couple of steps. For every two steps he takes forward, he takes one step back then 3 steps forward then halts for a while and the same sequence of steps repeats. After each sequence of steps, he covers a distance of 1m. What is the total number of steps he would have taken if he traveled a distance of 1km?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

for 5 steps forward , he takes 1 step back 5 steps forward=1m 1 km=5000 steps forward 1000 steps backward =6000 steps

OpenStudy (sasogeek):

I was thinking it'd be 6000 total steps cos the question required total steps, not total steps forward. he takes 2 steps forward + 1 step back + 3 steps forward=6 total steps by 1000m= 6000steps in 1km :) thanks btw

you were thinking right
