a variablle is the unknows amount

OpenStudy (anonymous):

variables are symbols or containers of unknown value or amount that can be used in expressions and equations. In programming they are used to store values as well

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it is helpful to use variables because it lets us create expressions that don't only point to one place. they can show a line, or a circle, or pretty much any shape. variables are important because we don't always know what fits in a spot, and there may be more than one thing that fits in that spot, we don't want to limit ourselves, so we use variables.
