give 5 examples of circular motion and the source of the centripetal force that keeps them in motion

OpenStudy (anonymous):

motion of earth around sun, the centripetal force of gravity from sun keeps it in motion in orbit the sattelites orbittin earth, gravity force from earth keep them in orbit electrons in an atom fan fins i let the fourth for you

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok, am waiting

OpenStudy (amistre64):

spirograph maybe?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

for the electrons in an atom above, its the weak nuclear force that keeps them in circular motion. another good one is a Rollercoaster loop, the normal force is what provides the centripetal acceleration

OpenStudy (anonymous):

One that hasn't been mentioned is the centripetal force applied to charged particles caught in a magnetic field.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Or one of those guys that rides a motorcycle around in a big metal ball.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The outside or walls of the spherical ball provides the push of centripetal force to the motorcycle and rider.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

David's sling, as in the weapon used to throw rocks, as it is swung horizontally about his head to take down Goliath. And a bunny wearing stockings sitting on the edge of a merry-go-round. The stone in the sling and the fancy bunny are in a circular motion with centripetal force keeping them in motion.

OpenStudy (ksaimouli):

moon is roating sround earth, earth is roating around the sun, gaintwheele

OpenStudy (ksaimouli):

electrons moving around atom

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Its a car on the highway, a car on the highway where the curve is raised uses this force to reduce loss of traction.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

IF random forces are applied acceleration is instantaneuous throughout the period of time that velocity is constant even though average acceraltion can equal zero. This is due to compensation acceleration to external forces to maintain a constant velocity.a good example of this is cruise conrol.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@junkiejim. it is not correct that the weak nuclear force keeps the electrons in an atom bound to the nucleus, and hence in a circular orbit (though this is a semi-classical view and they are really in a probability density cloud). It is the electromagnetic force that does this. The weak nuclear force only has a range of \(10^{-18}\)m which when compared to the size of the nucleus \((10^{-15}\rm{m})\) and the size of the atom \((10^{-10}\rm{m})\)means that it is confined to the nucleus and indeed to individual nucleons within the nucleus. see here http://hyperphysics.phy-astr.gsu.edu/hbase/forces/funfor.html

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ah, thanks Jonny.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the example of circular motion an artificial of the satellite orbiting the earth geosynchronous orbit.for example the curve of race trunk is turning.
