If a pro basketball player has a vertical leap of about 20 inches, what is his hang time? Use the hang time function V=48 T^2. (Simply your answer. Type and integer or a decimal. Round to the nearest tenth.)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wouldn't it just be 20=48t²?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[T = \sqrt{V/48}\] But what's the units of that equation?... i know nothing about you imperial people and your equations :-P Assuming that equation takes V (=vertial leap) in inches, T = 0.6455 (seconds??) ... that doesn't sound long enough.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Rounding to the nearest tenth... T = 0.6 (secs?)

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

yeah thats right now 20 inches is only like a foot and a half so yeah you are not in the air as long as you prob think you are
