How would you FOIL (x-6)(x-1)=0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

first, outer, inner, last....first is x * x to get x^2

OpenStudy (amistre64):

foil is just mutliplying

OpenStudy (amistre64):

why are you "foiling" it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

inner is x * -1 for just - x...outer is -6 * x and last is -6 * -1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so it's x^2 -7x + 6

OpenStudy (amistre64):

when I multiply I do the same thing no matter what: x -6 x -1 ---------- -x+6 x^2 -6x ----------- x^2 -7x +6

OpenStudy (amistre64):

but the "=0" thing is odd for this question

OpenStudy (anonymous):

interesting way to do it...i've never seen that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the = 0 kinda says solve it

OpenStudy (amistre64):

thats what I thought :) and foil doesnt solve it
