[7.02] Explain, in your own words, the step-by-step process to simplifying the expression below. Include the simplified answer in your explanation. (8x² + 5) − (3x² − x + 7)

OpenStudy (amistre64):

push the subtraction thru the (...) and reverse all the signs then combine like terms

OpenStudy (amistre64):

maybe more proper to use distribute a -1 then "push .."

OpenStudy (amistre64):

i have noticed a pattern almost that when you push a negative thru an operator it flips the operator :)

OpenStudy (amistre64):

\(-\forall x(P(x)->Q(x)) =\) \( \ \exists x -(P(x)->Q(x))\)

OpenStudy (amistre64):

\[-n_{x=1}^{10} (P(x))=u_{x=1}^{10}\ -(P(x))\] and such

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so would i get 5x²+x-2?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

dunno, id have to actually do it :) 8x² + 5 -3x² + x - 7 ----------- 5x² +x -2 better

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks a lot
