Sure

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\sqrt{-25}=\sqrt{25} \sqrt{-1}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the square root of a negative number -1 is i. since -25=25*-1,sqrt of -25=sqrt of 25*-1. square root of 25=5, square root of -1=i .5*i=5i. negate. -5i

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\sqrt{-25} = \sqrt{-1}\sqrt{25} = 5i\] Since you had \[-\sqrt{-25} = -5i\]

OpenStudy (owlfred):

Thanks fellas.

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

\[\large -\sqrt{-25}\] \[\large -\sqrt{-1*5^2}\] \[\large -\sqrt{-1}*\sqrt{5^2}\] \[\large -i*5\] \[\large -5i\] Note: \[\large i=\sqrt{-1}\] So \[\large -\sqrt{-25}=-5i\]
