OpenStudy (waheguru):

for c i am getting 3346 rounded to the nearest unit but the answer is 3666 am i right or wrong

OpenStudy (waheguru):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Are you solving for the volume or surface area?

OpenStudy (waheguru):

SUFACE AREA

OpenStudy (anonymous):

volume or surface arrea?

OpenStudy (waheguru):

surface area GUYS

OpenStudy (waheguru):

anyone figure out the rigth answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think you're right because even if I round radius to 15 and height to 22 it doesn't change answer significantly...are you sure it should 3,666?

OpenStudy (waheguru):

the answer showed 3666 or sure

OpenStudy (waheguru):

so......

OpenStudy (anonymous):

And the formula you're using is: \[2\pi rh+ 2\pi r ^{2} \] ?

OpenStudy (waheguru):

why dont you guys do the question

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I already did the question mine answer came out to 3348 I think the answer given might be wrong

OpenStudy (anonymous):

my*

OpenStudy (anonymous):

area of end bits = pi * 14.6^2 = 669.66--> * 2 = 1339 .32 area of side = 2*pi*14.6 *21.9= 2008.99 adding i get 3348.31

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what value are u using for pi? i used the value on my calculator

OpenStudy (waheguru):

i use 3.14

OpenStudy (anonymous):

right - that accounts for the differtence - what we can say is that 3366 is wrong

OpenStudy (anonymous):

To be more accurate you should use the pi on calculator up to 10 decimal places..actually jimmyrep 3,666 is wrong

OpenStudy (waheguru):

but then why am i getting 3346?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

because you used 3.14 for pi - your calculation is correct

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It's because your value of pi is 3.14 you've truncated it to just two decimal places where as the pi on the calculator is more accurate because it's up to 10 decimal places. But yes, your calculation is correct.

OpenStudy (waheguru):

so the answer is 3346?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you method of calculation is correct, i should say

OpenStudy (waheguru):

thankyou 4 ur time guys

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It depends on what your instructor wants but both answers are right..3346 and 3348.31

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you're welcome
