I need help with the following problems: 1.) Write the equation of the horizontal or vertical line: (3, -4), slope is undefined 2.) Find the equation of a line parallel to the given line: y = 2x + 4. 3.) Write an equation in slope-intercept form for an equation of a line perpendicular to y = 24x +2 and that intersects at point (0, -2).
Do you understand slope intercept form? y=Mx+B? Do you understand what slope is?
i was taught it, but i don't even remember it lol
Okay well then we should start by understanding slope. Slope is a way of describing how steep a line is. A steeper hill is harder to walk up, and has a higher slope. A downhill is very easy to walk down, and has a negative slope which is bigger the steeper downward it is. It's the same with lines.

1. y=3 2. y=2x+8 (same slope different intercept) 3. y=-1/24 x -2 (perpendcular lines have inverse slope)
So the question with slope is, "If I walk to the right some amount, how much will I go up?" This is called "Rise over run" To calculate it, I look at my line, pick two points, and then ask, "How much did I rise from the left point to the right point?" And then ask "How much did I go over from the left point to the right point?" The I take the first number and divide by the second number to get slope.
